Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your first appointment — and a few things worth knowing even if you’ve been coming for years.

Booking & Your First Visit

How do I book an appointment?

All appointments at Ghazaleh London are by arrangement. You can book directly online using the booking link on our website, or contact the clinic directly to discuss your needs before booking. We are available at both our Mayfair and Pimlico locations.

Which location should I choose — Mayfair or Pimlico?

Both locations offer the full range of Ghazaleh London treatments to exactly the same standard. Your choice simply comes down to which is most convenient for you. If you are unsure, contact us and we will be happy to advise.

What should I expect on my first visit?

Your first appointment begins with a thorough clinical consultation. Ghazaleh will take a detailed history, assess your feet, and discuss your concerns and goals before any treatment begins. Nothing is assumed and nothing is rushed. You will leave with a clear understanding of your foot health and a personalised plan going forward.

How long does an appointment take?

Appointment length varies depending on the treatment. A Medical Pedicure typically takes 60–90 minutes. A Biomechanical Assessment or Bespoke Orthotics consultation may take longer. When you book, you will be given a clear indication of the time required for your specific appointment.

Do I need a referral to book?

No referral is needed. You are welcome to book directly. Ghazaleh also accepts referrals from GPs, physiotherapists, osteopaths, and orthopaedic surgeons for clients requiring specialist podiatric input.

Is parking available at the clinics?

At Mayfair, street parking is available nearby and the clinic is moments from Green Park station (Jubilee, Victoria and Piccadilly lines). At Pimlico, on-site parking is available at Dolphin Square, and the clinic is within easy reach of Pimlico station (Victoria line) and Victoria station.

Medical Pedicure

What is the difference between a Medical Pedicure and a regular pedicure?

A Medical Pedicure at Ghazaleh London is delivered by an HCPC registered podiatrist — not a beauty therapist. In a single session, Ghazaleh identifies and treats the underlying causes of hard skin, nail concerns, and skin conditions, then leaves your feet looking as good as they feel. A regular pedicure addresses appearance only. A Medical Pedicure addresses both — with clinical precision and an impeccable finish.

Is a Medical Pedicure suitable for men?

Absolutely. Ghazaleh London treats a significant number of male clients. The Medical Pedicure is a clinical treatment — not a beauty service — and is equally relevant and effective for men, women, and older teenagers.

Will my feet look good after a Medical Pedicure, or just feel better?

Both. The Ghazaleh London approach is built on the belief that clinical outcomes and aesthetic results are inseparable. Your feet will be treated with clinical precision and finished to an impeccable standard. This is the only type of pedicure where you leave with feet that are genuinely healthier — and look it.

How often should I have a Medical Pedicure?

This varies depending on your individual needs. Many clients attend every 6–8 weeks as part of an ongoing foot health and maintenance routine. Ghazaleh will advise on the ideal frequency for you during your first appointment.

Bespoke Orthotics & Biomechanics

What does 3D scanning for orthotics involve?

The 3D scanning process is non-invasive, precise, and completed entirely in-clinic. It captures the exact structure, pressure profile, and contours of your feet in detail that a traditional foam box or plaster cast cannot match. This data is used to engineer orthotics that are truly bespoke — designed around your anatomy, your movement, and your clinical needs

How are bespoke orthotics different from insoles I can buy in a pharmacy?

Pharmacy insoles are generic — designed for an average foot that does not exist. Bespoke orthotics from Ghazaleh London are precision-engineered from your exact 3D scan, following a full biomechanical assessment. They correct the specific alignment issues, pressure points, and movement patterns identified in your consultation. The difference in outcome is significant.

Will orthotics fit inside my normal shoes?

Yes. Ghazaleh designs orthotics with both function and real life in mind. Every pair is engineered to sit discreetly and comfortably inside your existing footwear — including dress shoes, trainers, and boots — without compromise to fit or comfort.

Do I need a Biomechanical Assessment before getting orthotics?

Yes. A Biomechanical Assessment is the essential foundation for any orthotic prescription. It ensures the orthotics are designed to address the actual cause of your pain or dysfunction — not just a generalised support. Prescribing orthotics without a proper assessment is a common reason they fail to deliver results.

Can orthotics help with knee, hip, or lower back pain?

Yes — frequently. Foot alignment has a direct and significant effect on the mechanics of the knee, hip, and lower back. Many clients who present with pain in these areas have an underlying foot or gait issue that is contributing to or causing the problem. A Biomechanical Assessment will identify whether this is the case for you.

Clinical Conditions

I have had a verruca for years. Can it actually be treated?

Yes. Persistent verrucas that have not responded to over-the-counter treatments require clinical expertise — not more of the same. At Ghazaleh London, each case is assessed individually and the most appropriate evidence-based treatment protocol is selected for your specific situation. Many clients who have tried multiple treatments elsewhere achieve resolution here

Is ingrown toenail treatment painful?

Conservative management of an ingrown toenail is typically quick and well-tolerated. Where minor nail surgery is required, it is performed under local anaesthetic, meaning the procedure itself is painless. Ghazaleh prioritises your comfort throughout and will explain exactly what to expect before any treatment begins.

Can bunions be treated without surgery?

In many cases, yes. While bunions are a structural concern that cannot be reversed without surgery, their progression can be slowed significantly and discomfort reduced through expert conservative management — orthotic therapy, footwear guidance, and pressure redistribution. Ghazaleh will provide an honest assessment of your specific situation and recommend the most appropriate course of action.

I have diabetes. Do I need specialist foot care?

Yes — and regularly. Diabetes affects circulation and sensation in the feet, which means even minor issues can escalate quickly if not identified and managed by a specialist. Ghazaleh provides thorough diabetic foot assessments, monitoring all key indicators and intervening early where needed. If you have diabetes and have not had a professional foot assessment in the past 12 months, book one now.

Are corns and calluses just a cosmetic problem?

No. Corns and calluses are clinical signals — they indicate areas of excessive pressure and friction that, over time, cause real damage to the underlying tissue. Treating them correctly means removing them precisely and addressing the underlying cause to prevent recurrence. Over-the-counter corn plasters mask the symptom; they do not treat it.

Children's Foot Care

At what age should I bring my child to a podiatrist?

There is no minimum age. If you have concerns about your child’s walking pattern, foot development, posture, or any specific condition — including flat feet, in-toeing, verrucas, or ingrown toenails — it is worth seeking a specialist opinion early. The earlier a developmental concern is identified, the more effectively it can be managed.

My child has flat feet. Is this a problem?

Not always — but it depends on the degree, the age of the child, and whether it is causing any pain, fatigue, or changes in walking pattern. Many children have flat feet that resolve naturally as they develop. Others benefit from early clinical intervention. A specialist assessment will give you a clear, honest answer and a plan if one is needed.

Is the appointment suitable for nervous children?

Absolutely. Ghazaleh has extensive experience treating children of all ages and takes a gentle, unhurried approach that puts young patients at ease. Appointments are paced to suit the child, and both parent and child will be fully informed throughout.

Credentials & Clinical Standards

What does HCPC Registered mean?

HCPC stands for the Health and Care Professions Council — the UK regulatory body for podiatrists and a range of other healthcare professionals. HCPC registration means Ghazaleh meets the required standards of proficiency, conduct, and continuing professional development, and is legally accountable for the care she provides. It is the mark of a qualified, regulated podiatrist — not simply someone offering foot treatments.

What is the difference between a podiatrist and a chiropodist?

In the UK, podiatrist and chiropodist refer to the same profession. Podiatrist is the more modern and internationally recognised title. Both are regulated by the HCPC. At Ghazaleh London, all treatments are delivered by an HCPC registered podiatrist with 23 years of specialist clinical experience.

Is Ghazaleh London covered by private health insurance?

Many private health insurance policies cover podiatry treatment. We recommend checking directly with your insurer before your appointment, as coverage varies by policy and provider. Ghazaleh London can provide detailed receipts and clinical notes where required for insurance purposes.

Pricing & Fees

How much do treatments cost?

Fees vary depending on the treatment and are listed on our website. As a guide, our Medical Pedicure starts from £204 at our Mayfair location. We do not publish prices without context — if you would like to discuss fees before booking, please contact the clinic directly and we will be happy to help.

Do you offer payment plans?

Please contact the clinic directly to discuss this. For longer treatment programmes — such as bespoke orthotics — we are happy to have a conversation about how we can make the process work for you.

What is your cancellation policy?
